Book Club Discussion Guide:
We haven’t decided on any specific discussion points but here is a short guide you can use for support:
- Pip as protagonist – Is she relatable? How does she compare to other classic and modern fictional detectives?
- Technology & social media – Pip uses Facebook to uncover secrets. Could she have solved the case without modern tools?
- Prejudice & small-town gossip – How does bias shape the town’s view of Sal?
- True crime appeal – Why do young readers gravitate toward thrillers mixing everyday life with crime?
- Andie’s complexity – Victim and perpetrator at once. Were sensitive topics handled respectfully?
- Plot twists – Which reveals shocked you? Which red herrings misled you?
- Story structure – Any unnecessary parts or underdeveloped characters? What would you change?
- Series & adaptation – Will you read the sequels or watch the Netflix series?
- Favorite quotes – Share lines that stood out to you.
- Ratings – How would you score the book (overall or by language, plot, themes)?
- BookTok & recommendations – What other titles fit the BookTok vibe?

(sid 75)

”We never thought of ourselves as witches, my mother and I. For this was a word invented by men, a word that brings power to those that speak it, not those that it describes. A word that builds gallows and pyres, turns breathing women into corpses.”

(sid 191)
